Science visualizations
Conceptual diagrams
A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
Conceptual diagrams capture and communicate otherwise complex concepts.

From hand sketches to Adobe Illustrator, conceptual diagrams were my introduction to conveying science and research through pictures. I will continue being a student of Illustrator even long after graduation.
Data visualization
FROM CLUTTER TO CLARITY
Data can be complicated enough, so representing them in easy-to-digest formats is essential to communicating results and their importance.

I learned to rid graphs of chart "junk," or the superfluous elements that detract from the main message.
Photography
"YOU DON'T TAKE A PHOTOGRAPH, YOU MAKE IT" -Ansel Adams
Photographs provide a point of connection for an audience and can help supplement scientific data.

High quality photographs go beyond simply clicking the shutter button. I learned the intricacies of selecting and editing photos through photoshop.
Maps
NO LONGER 'ALL OVER THE MAP'
Maps allow for data layering and the contextualization of research.

Simplicity, color, and projections all contribute to a concise and design-forward map.
Tell customers more about you. Add a few words and a stunning pic to grab their attention and get them to click.

This space is ideal for writing a detailed description of your business and the types of services that you provide. Talk about your team and your areas of expertise.
Storyboards
THE ULTIMATE PLANNING TOOL
Planning is an essential part of the design process; storyboards are here to help. They are messy prototypes that assist in mapping out the content of a visualization.

'Shitty first drafts' are to scientific papers, as storyboards are to science visualizations. As a visual learner, I came to appreciate how invaluable storyboards are in getting thoughts onto paper.
Print Products
HOT OFF THE PRESS!
From infographic handouts to poster presentations, it is safe to say that print is not dead within the sciences. Printed products can provide a useful visual aid with key take-aways.

The layout, fonts, colors, white space, and icons can be used to one's advantage in designing a print visual that maximizes aesthetics and readability.
